Currently when we acquire an electronic device, we often find the phrase “smart” and sometimes we relate this concept to the old conception of Artificial Intelligence .

What is smart technology?

If we had to cite some examples of products that are on the market and are defined “Smart” we can name the iPhone , or Smart cars, even televisions, computers and ordinary household appliances such as multiprocessors or kitchens.

The concept of smart technology is basically focused on providing a specific device with a logical programming that will respond rationally under a stimulus on its sensors. That is to say, a smart TV consists of a programming that will save energy when its sensors detect that nobody is using it at that moment, passing the system to a saving mode, or can adjust the resolution and the size of the screen according to the image input format or maybe also automatically recognize the data that is entered in it.

For this, each of these devices has a microprocessor that analyzes the data of the sensors and responds based on the programming that has been loaded in it as parameters of use.

In the case of an smart car, it is able to use the location parameters provided by a location system such as GPS , and combining this data with those entering through all the sensors of the vehicle automatically and safely drive to the place (for example in the case of the Citroën C3 the sensors allow the vehicle to park automatically).

There is a radical difference between this concept and Artificial Intelligence , since the latter aims for a machine to make decisions based not only on logic but also emotionally and although technology and science have advanced a lot in this field , the results are still very poor.
